I-Shine Ambassadors

Our Ambassadors are inspiring and talented people who champion our schools, Orion & Goldbeaters, The I-Shine Theatre Hub and our charity, the Bright Yellow Thinkers (BYT). 

They visit the children and create a very special connection with them so the children feel they have real role models.

Aly Spiro is an actor/educator who has been involved in this industry for over 30 years.
As an actor she has worked across all mediums,theatre,TV, film and radio but is probably best known for playing Sarah Sugden in Emmerdale.
She has been working in HE for over 15 years directing and teaching at most of the drama schools in London. She was appointed Head of Acting/BA Course Leader at ALRA, a job she enjoyed for ten years.
She is now the senior acting tutor at identity School of Acting whilst also pursuing her acting career.

 

Ben Lyttleton is the best-selling author of the Football School book series for children, which opens up the school curriculum by using football as a tool for education. The books are written for children to develop a love of reading, foster a curiosity about the world and see that everything is connected. They have been translated into ten different languages. Ben works with schools, literacy charities, football clubs, the Premier League and FIFA in working to improve children’s literacy worldwide. His other books also use football as a learning tool for adults. ‘Twelve Yards: The Art and Psychology of the Perfect Penalty’ and ‘EDGE: Leadership Lessons from Football’s Top Thinkers’, both focus on the psychology of performance under pressure. Ben works with leaders across all industries to help develop talent and create high-performance environments.

Contemporary Artist Mark Weighton has been creating artworks that explore a vision of the interconnected nature of existence for over 30 years. He most recently created an outdoor art installation in Glasgow for the COP26 Summit - a UN climate change conference. Mark paints, draws, sculpts and also writes for an online journal. His first visi,t over a decade ago, to Orion and Goldbeaters was as a children's illustrator. Since then he has been both a visiting artist and an artist in residence working with and inspiring hundreds or our pupils.  We are hugely fortunate to house a collection of his paintings at The Orion.

Kimba is a hip hop artist and performance poet. Kimba has performed to politicians, corporate executives, and festival crowds, as well as hosting workshops for community groups, churches, university's & schools. He writes for Sony Viacom, CBS, and West One Music Group where his music has been featured in film and on television. He has been a featured artist at The Victoria and Albert Museum, The Tate Modern, and The Houses of Parliament. Kimba has inspired children from Orion and Goldbeaters for over 3 years now with the captivating performances of his poems. He has  ignited our pupils' creativity in writing their own poetry and coached them with their performance skills.

Alba Torriset is the lead singer of Ålesund, an alt pop band.  She grew up in Hastings in the South of England where her love for singing was nurtured by the acoustics of the local churches she attended, where she would often perform. She later attended a specialist music college in Lewes, where she was trained classically. After graduating,  Alba decided to forge her own musical path and started writing her own music. Since then, Ålesund has been making waves in the UK music scene, earning praise from industry tastemakers like BBC Radio Bristol, BBC Introducing in the West, Amazing Radio, and RTE Ireland. Their live performances have been described as captivating and mesmerizing. The band’s notable achievements include playing at some of the UK’s biggest festivals, including Glastonbury, Bestival, Boomtown, and Cambridge Folk Festival, as well as touring the country and playing in major cities like London, Cardiff and Manchester.
