Week 1 - Orange Week
Go Fest 2015 kicked off with Orange Week. During ths week, we had our photos taken. We brought in clothes and items which represented our personality and had a unique photo shoot! The photos will be on display at the end of Go Fest! This week was incredible because Claudia Rose, from The Voice, came and sang for us! What a fantastic singer! Claudia is 17 years old and she told us that the reason why she has such an incredible talent is because she has been practising since she was 4 years old! Year 3 were really inspired by that! We will follow her lead and make sure we work hard and practise, so our talents shine! Claudia's dad was also here at the school supporting her - her dad shines, which helps Claudia shine! I SHINE, WE SHINE!
Week 2 - Blue Week
During Blue Week, we celebrated peace, harmony, friendship and the community. There were lots and LOTS of singing and musical performances from Orion and Goldies children which we shared with parents and family. All of Year 3 appeared on the Go Fest stage and we sang our hearts out! We were so excited when Brick City came on stage to sing for us too!
What an exciting day! The circus came to Orion! We did a circus skills workshop and learned how to use lots of different equipment, like the flower stick, the diabolo and even the 'wheels of doom!'
Year 3 are super talented! Some of us took part in the instrument concert during Go Fest and played the violin!
All of Year 3 are enjoying Go Fest - including the adults!
The Go Fest Community Evening was incredible! We had rides, fantastic food, face painting, characters from the Disney movie 'Frozen', balloons... Can't wait for the next one!
Week 3 - Green Week
Green Week was all about nature and calmness, which was pefect after the excitiment of Blue Week! Green Week kicked off with some amazing art lessons. We decorated bird and bug boxes!
What an exciting afternoon! Year 3 went on the field and enjoyed a falcon show. The guys from Totally Falconry told us some incredible facts about barn owls, Harris hawks and eagle owls. Did you know that barns owls fly in complete silence and that their hearing is so good they can hear the heartbeat of a mouse? Wow! We watched these fantastic birds flying and some of us were lucky enough to join in with the show!
Today, Years 3 and 4 were given a set of sticks, some canvas and some rope and were set the challenge of making a den! It started off quite tricky with dens falling down and collasping but we were resillent and kept going! Finally, by working well with our team mates, some of us managed to buid a den that stood up on its own! It was a fantastic morning!
Week 4 of Go Fest was Purple Week. This week, we celebrated our creativity and our imagination through lots of art activities.
The first Go Fest activity this week was an amazing caricature artist. A caricature is a picture of someone where their features have been exaggerated. Year 3 watched in stunned silence as the artist drew 3 children on her iPad. We were able to watch everything she did as her iPad was linked to the projector. We were so inspired that when we returned back to the classroom, we practised drawing caricatures of our own!
Molecular Mandy visited us this week with her incredible Wizz Bang Show. Molecular Mandy, the Mad Scientist, enthralled Years 3-6 with her enthusiastic science experiments. We learned a lot and we had so much fun! We hope she comes again next year!
Week 5 - Red Week
Red week was well named - the weather was hot, hot - red hot! Temperatures reached 35 degrees but that did not stop Orion children! We celebrated Red Week with lots and lots of sporting activities! Children took part in different sporting competitions such as climbing, golf, archery and rowing. We has a Sports Activity Morning where we spent 2 hours competing in non-stop challenges. We used our resilience and will-power to help us when we though we couldn't do an activity. We has great team-spirit and respect for each other. Our determination and motivation was out of this world! Red Week was awesome! We learned a lot and had so much FUN!
